Is Getting a Home Inspection worth it?
A home inspection in Edmonton can be quite costly. But the short answer is yes unless you’re prepared to deal with a slew of unforeseen problems. Of course, you can ask the seller about any issues and they should answer truthfully. However, most sellers probably won’t know or be able to tell you. A home inspection can then be used to negotiate a lower price on the house. Some problems may not even be visible but knowing the visible condition of the home can really save your bacon.
Love is Blind
First time home buyers are often guilty of falling in love with a house. It’s great when a home buyer finds what they’re looking for. But they can ignore or trivialize concerns the home inspector might have. There is no such thing as a perfect home either but there is always a reason for concerns and calling out defects.
Read the Report
Most people will only read the summary. These are the safety issues and major defects. A home inspection report includes maintenance tips, system life expectancy, and minor issues that can turn into major issues if they’re not dealt with. This is the best tip I can give to any client.
